The new Amputee Community Resource Directory, co-sponsored by the Liner Wand and Amplitude Magazine, helps amputees easily find and connect with community-based programs and services.

Hosted at https://livingwithamplitude.com, this free resource replaces the frustrating, time-consuming search for information with a fast, searchable database listing hundreds of amputee-serving programs and services.

“The Amputee Community Resource Directory will make it much easier for amputees to gain access to resources,” says Liner Wand CEO Elizabeth Stone. “Over two years of community surveys, people told us they have the most trouble finding programs in areas such as fitness, recreation, mental health, social connection, and financial assistance. The directory is designed to help close those gaps.”

“People told us they wanted better access to information, and we listened,” adds Amplitude editor Larry Borowsky. “Amputees and their prosthetists and caregivers need a comprehensive, trustworthy, searchable resource where they can quickly, easily find programs and services that improve their quality of life.”

The Amputee Community Resource Directory makes it easy to find local and national programs offering:

  • Adaptive sports and recreation
  • Clothes, shoes, and prosthetic covers
  • Financial assistance for mobility devices and other needs
  • Health, mental health, physical fitness, and rehab
  • Support for kids and families
  • Military veteran support
  • Legal advocacy
  • Social connection and peer support

The Amputee Community Resource Directory is more complete, accurate, and user-friendly than any other directory of limb-loss programs and services. It’s the only resource of its kind that is searchable by state, keyword, and category. And it’s just getting started. Plans are already afoot to add new features and functionality.

“As always, we’ll be guided by the voices of our community,” says Borowsky. “The new directory is a good start, but we want to make it even better over time.”
